Suitable
for: Parents, Carers and Families of Deaf Babies and Children

This Auslan Family Signs with Auslan Grammar Course is suitable for parents, carers, siblings, relatives and close friends of deaf babies and children, as it will help them learn how to converse with their child in Auslan, using Auslan grammar.

Families and friends who include their deaf baby or child in every day Auslan conversations will find that it boosts their child's full inclusion in the family, with their language skills and ability to communicate being greatly enhanced, and in turn, increase their self-esteem, and makes bonding with families and understanding each other so much more easier. The Auslan grammar being used here is a foundational part of Auslan, the language of the Deaf Community, and will help enrich your child's language development to make it easier for them to learn English as a second language without being delayed in language input due to their deafness.

Please note that the signs in this Course are from the Victorian state (Southern Dialect Auslan), most of the signs are the same all over Australia, except for a few signs here and there, especially colours. In the Videos, Southern Dialect Auslan are being used. If you are from a state other than Victoria, please double check with someone who is knowledgeable about the signs in your state. NSW and QLD signs may be added to this Course, please check in here for new additions by refreshing your browser.
